Coalition’s first-ever broker conference came to life in New York City with vibrant motion and stunning design, amplifying the innovative cyber insurance company’s lively, geometric branding.

In April 2025, Coalition hosted its first conference for brokers in the world of cyber insurance: Activate ».

Channeling its cutting-edge technology, robust insurance expertise, and commitment to bold and colorful visual design, Activate allowed the Coalition brand team to express components of our visual identity in exciting new ways that broke out of our day-to-day brand guidelines but still felt like an organic extension of them.

As the lead motion designer, I built upon the visual elements established by our design team, including a restrained and confident color palette of electric blues and greens against stark blacks and whites, as well as an expanded library of geometric tiles. From these foundations, I developed a comprehensive motion system that brought the entire conference experience to life.

My deliverables included a playful looping logo animation, eye-catching social media animations, a dynamic show opener and hype video, and ambient motion loops that filled the downtown NYC venue, seamlessly complementing the incredible signage and graphic design work.

Geograms

Geometric tiles are a signature element of the core Coalition brand. We wanted to give these tiles a chace to show their moves at the conference, and we knew we wanted them to be flexible enough to work in concert with each other in a many different procedural combinations that kept each motion screen fresh and distinct.

I worked out a library of these ‘geograms’ based on the Activate graphic design tiles and committed to using only this group of players. I then directed my excellent fellow animator » in making them dance according to some examples. Leaving them black and white meant we could switch up the color palette as needed, enabling a limitless amount of permutations for each screen.
